Dog Friendly Office Project: Are There Other Companies That Wish to Become Dog-Friendly?

At free stitch, we are continuously working towards creating a better working environment for staff and their pets. In the spirit of ‘Enriching the Workplace with Your Dog", we started the ‘Dog Friendly Office Project’ in September 2019. 

We hope that through the growing popularity of the ‘Dog-Friendly Office Project’ we are helping to improve the quality of life for pets in Japan and around the world. 

When we started the project, we launched a questionnaire to gather thoughts and opinions about bringing your dog or pet to work. In this questionnaire, we asked about the conditions of the workplace and whether there are the facilities to accommodate bringing pets to work.   

In a recent post, we saw that many companies have never considered that bringing pets to work was an option. However among the answers received we saw that some people answered that there is a possibility of their company becoming a pet-friendly office in the future.

We asked, 'Is there a possibility of becoming a pet-friendly office in the future?' and received the following responses:

We have been listening to and gathering further responses from those who answered ‘yes’ [はい] to the above question and have been considering what steps could be taken to making a pet-friendly office. 

We asked, 'Why did you answer 'yes' to the above question?'

Some of the responses were:

1. Perhaps the company owner has a dog and would be interested?
2. A lot of people in the company have started talking about it. 

As we have seen in the responses above, there seem to be some companies that want to become pet-friendly but perhaps they are unsure of how to go about setting up the right facilities, rule and regulations, or simply don’t have the chance to get the project going. For those companies who are on the fence about converting to a pet-friendly office, we hope to be able to give what advice we can for how to set up an office where pets are welcome.
