Introducing the free stitch Dog-Friendly Office Health Certificate

We’re thrilled to announce the addition of a new staff dog to the free stitch team! This time, we welcomed a puppy who lives alone and hasn’t yet completed his vaccination program. Recognizing the unique challenges posed by such a situation, the Dog-Friendly Office Project management staff embarked on a series of trials and errors to find a solution.
Initially, we had established a rule requiring our staff members’ dogs to be vaccinated against rabies and other viral infectious diseases. This policy was aimed preventing the spread of infectious diseases among other dogs that visit our office. However, in the case of puppies, we understood the importance of getting them used to their environment and various stimulation from a young age. Socialization is crucial for puppies, and it’s essential to provide them with the appropriate opportunities to interact with others.
Given these considerations, we sought the advice of veterinarians to develop a health certificate that would allow dogs without complete vaccination to join us at the office. Dr. Shinya Kobayashi, the director of Hiff Cafe Tamagawa and a valued collaborator with free stitch, kindly contributed to this initiative.
Initially, we planned to create a health certificate specifically for puppies that have not received vaccinations. However, Dr. Kobayashi suggested that it would be more beneficial to develop a universal health certificate that could be applied to dogs of all ages. This approach would help ensure that we can assess a dog’s health and well-being before bringing it into the office, regardless of its age.
We’ve created a comprehensive Dog-Friendly Office Project Health Check Chart (Japanese only) that will serve as a valuable tool for evaluating a dog’s health and readiness to join our team in the office. This chart covers various aspects, including vaccinations, health history, temperament, and behavior. By using this chart, we can make informed decisions and ensure the safety and happiness of our furry colleagues.
At free stitch, we’ve always required staff members who bring their pets to work to submit proof of vaccination. However, we’re expanding our requirements to include a health certificate for pets in the future.
This health certificate is highly versatile, so feel free to use it if you’d like to make your company a Dog-Friendly Office. If you use it, please let us know how it went and share your feedback, including any points you noticed or suggestions for improvement. We’re excited to work with you to create a more comfortable office environment for pets.
As mentioned in our previous posts, free stitch can provide expert advice and guidance on creating a Dog-Friendly Office with the necessary structures in place. If you’re interested in creating a Dog-Friendly Office but don’t have any specialized knowledge about pets, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll work with you to determine the optimal office environment based on your preferences.
We’ve introduced new rules this time because our staff members welcomed a new puppy. In the future, we’d like to consider providing support for senior dogs as well.
