2022 Spring-Summer Meetup Roundup

At free stitch, 2022 kicked off to a great start with the launch of the 2022 Spring-Summer Meetup Festivals. This year we added five new breeds to our early year season lineup: Pug, Pinscher, Border Collie, Schnauzer, and Pomeranian and they proved to be very popular with participants. It was great to see so many owners get enthusiastic about the new breed Meetups.

Spring can always be a variable season in Japan with rain and sunny days punctuating the season in equal measure. Despite this, the free stitch team battled the elements in order to successfully set up each event and provide everyone with an enjoyable experience for every Meetup held.

We saw a large turnout of attendees for all of the Meetups this season, especially for the Boston Terrier Meetup, which saw almost 1,000 people plus dogs join. Despite repeated bad weather warnings, everyone made a combined effort to pitch in and enjoy the events.

As has become a staple of our Meetup events, we held training sessions, competitions, and seminars for each breed that focused on their individual traits, quirks, and shortcomings.

Our experienced team of trainers and obedience specialists conducted 2 - 3 sessions per event and we were pleasantly surprised to see them booked out. Even though the shadow of COVID-19 still hangs over society in Japan, it was good to see everyone attempting to get stuck into the activities while continuing to be responsible and careful.

This season, we expanded our SNS presence through informative YouTube videos and interviews in the hope that more people can get to know what our Meetup events are like and hopefully make an application to attend. For more information about our company activities both related to the Meetup events and other charity work, please visit and subscribe to the free stitch YouTube channel.

Some of our interviews include chats with our regular trainer and obedience specialist Ms. Nagawa, who also performed a ‘dog dance’ at our Pomeranian Meetup on 15th May 2022, and Ms. Miichi, a specialist breeder of Jack Russels from Shizuoka who gave a talk on the importance of breeding and raising dogs at our Jack Russell Terrier Meetup in March 2022.
