Dog Friendly Office Project Update: Staff Dog Ten-chan Visited the free stitch Office

This January, a little miniature pinscher boy called ‘Ten-chan’ visited the free stitch office in Shibuya!

Ten-chan spent the day relaxing at his owner’s feet while they worked. Ten-chan can come across as a little aggressive because he is a naturally nervous dog when in new surroundings with new people, so the Dog-friendly Office project supervisor requested that he remain on the lead connected to his owner’s chair, or in his familiar carry case while in the workplace.

At free stitch we like to always encourage people to work together to improve the training of their pets while in the office, so dogs like Ten-chan can improve themselves and open up more opportunities for enjoyment with others.

Coming to the office can gradually improve their discipline and familiarity with new people and situations, which in turn can greatly reduce their stress. Since Ten-chan has been coming to the office more and more, he has been barking less and has gradually begun to calm down around new people.

Creating a dog-friendly office requires everyone to pitch in to help create an environment that is positive and welcoming for all dogs and pets, regardless of their temperament. We are constantly striving towards  preventing accidents, helping problem behaviour and improving the quality of life for pets and their owners.

In the spirit of ‘Enriching the Workplace with Your Dog" at free stitch, we started the ‘Dog Friendly Office Project’ in September 2019 and we are actively encouraging our staff to bring their pets to work. For more information about coming to work with pets, we have drafted a set of guidelines to use as reference.
